Booking direct was almost the cheapest option. The hotel's own site was $1 more than Klook and $37 less than Booking.com. Hutchgo, a smaller reseller, charged the most.
Which is the cheapest hotel booking site? We priced the same room at four hotels on Google Hotels, Trivago and Kayak, then compared the booking sites they showed, from Booking.com and Agoda to the hotel's own website.
No single booking site was cheapest. Klook, Agoda, Evendo and Traveloka each won one hotel, and Booking.com won none. The comparison tool mattered much less. With taxes included, Google Hotels, Trivago and Kayak were within about 5% of each other, and Marina Bay Sands was $705 a night on all three. Kayak looked cheaper at first in our search because its first prices left taxes and fees out. So search Google Hotels, check Trivago or Kayak with taxes and fees included, and compare those prices with the hotel's own site before you book.
The cheapest nightly price each tool showed for the same room and dates, with taxes and fees included. Green = cheapest of the three.
| Hotel | | | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marina Bay Sands | $705 | $705 | $705 |
| W Amsterdam | $558 | $568 | $580 |
| The Cosmopolitan | $283 | $269 | n/aresort fees |
| citizenM | $563 | $563 | n/apremium room only |
In our search, Kayak showed prices before taxes and fees, so it often looked cheaper. With taxes included, the prices were much closer. We couldn't get a comparable Kayak price for the Cosmopolitan (resort fees) or citizenM (only a premium room was left for these dates).
These tools compare prices and send you to a booking site to complete the reservation. The booking site sets the price and handles the booking. If two tools show different prices for the same room, check whether both include taxes and fees before you compare.
Each site's nightly rate for the same room, as listed on Google Hotels. Green is the cheapest site, amber the most expensive, and the ring marks the hotel's own rate.
Booking direct was almost the cheapest option. The hotel's own site was $1 more than Klook and $37 less than Booking.com. Hutchgo, a smaller reseller, charged the most.
Booking direct wasn't the cheapest here. Agoda was $31 less than the hotel's own site, and Booking.com, Hotels.com and the official rate all charged about the same. We left out a $944 Priceline quote because it was priced for three guests.
Booking.com, Agoda and Priceline all showed $312. Expedia was $24 less and Evendo $29 less. Google didn't show the hotel's own rate, so check MGM Rewards directly, The Cosmopolitan also charges a daily resort fee.
Most sites were within $4 of each other, and the hotel's free member rate matched the cheapest. Billabook wanted $36 more for the same room. We left out a $1,196 Clicktrip quote, which looked like a pricing error.
The cheapest site, the hotel's own price and the nightly gap between the cheapest and most expensive site.
| Hotel | Cheapest site | Its price | Book direct | Most expensive | You save |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Marina Bay Sands | Klook | $705 | $706 | $788 hutchgo | $83 |
| W Amsterdam | Agoda | $558 | $589 | $591 Hotels.com | $33 |
| The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas | Evendo | $283 | Not shown | $333 müv AI | $50 |
| citizenM New York Times Square | Traveloka | $563 | $563 | $599 Billabook | $36 |
Two outliers are left out: a Priceline quote for three guests at the W Amsterdam, and a reseller quote at citizenM of about double the going rate.
Agoda is legit. It's an online travel agency owned by Booking Holdings, which also owns Booking.com and Kayak. It was the cheapest site at the W Amsterdam. Traveloka is a travel booking company founded in Indonesia in 2012, and it was cheapest at citizenM New York. Klook is a Hong Kong-based travel platform known for tours and attraction tickets, and it was cheapest at Marina Bay Sands.
Trivago is legit too. It's a hotel comparison site controlled by Expedia Group, and it sends you to a booking site to complete the reservation. Wherever you book, check the cancellation terms and the final price before you pay. Go to the booking site yourself rather than following a link from a message or ad you don't recognize.
We checked all four hotels in one sitting on 10 July 2026, for the same room and dates (14 to 16 September 2026), two adults, in US dollars. We compared the price with taxes and fees included on all three tools. Some US hotels also charge a mandatory resort fee. Hotel prices change constantly, so expect today's rates to differ.
