Temperature barely changes. Rain and crowds are what make the months different.
January
35/100 - Temperature
- 31 / 24°C (88 / 75°F)
- Rain days
- 16
- Crowds
- Moderate
One of the two wettest months, with rain common in the afternoons and overnight, and high humidity in between. Marine debris turns up on the west-coast beaches from Kuta to Seminyak. Prices are low, the rice terraces are greenest, and the east coast gets more favorable surf conditions than the west.
February
38/100 - Temperature
- 31 / 24°C (88 / 75°F)
- Rain days
- 14
- Crowds
- Moderate
As wet as January, and one of the quietest months in the arrivals data we track. Villa rates are near their yearly low and restaurant reservations are easy to get. Come prepared for rain and it is good value.
March Nyepi
46/100 - Temperature
- 31 / 24°C (88 / 75°F)
- Rain days
- 12
- Crowds
- Moderate
Rain starts easing late in the month, and this is the quietest month for arrivals. Nyepi, the Balinese day of silence, closes the airport for a full 24 hours, so check the date against your trip before booking flights.
April
66/100 - Temperature
- 31 / 24°C (88 / 75°F)
- Rain days
- 9
- Crowds
- Busy
The changeover month, and an underrated one. Rainfall falls off sharply and humidity follows. April is generally quieter than the July peak. Some afternoons still get a downpour, most days are dry, and the island is still green.
May
77/100 - Temperature
- 31 / 23°C (88 / 73°F)
- Rain days
- 7
- Crowds
- Busy
Dry season proper. Sunny days, low rainfall, comfortable evenings and moderate crowds. May has dry-season weather before the July and August peak.
June
85/100 - Temperature
- 30 / 23°C (86 / 73°F)
- Rain days
- 5
- Crowds
- Busy
Dry, breezy and usually sunny, with dry-season winds favoring the west-coast breaks. Crowds build through the month towards the July peak, though rates have not fully jumped yet.
July
87/100 - Temperature
- 30 / 22°C (86 / 72°F)
- Rain days
- 4
- Crowds
- Peak
The busiest month in the arrivals data, with some of Bali's most dependable dry-season weather. Canggu, Uluwatu and Ubud are full, villa rates hit their yearly high, and traffic in the south gets bad. Book early and stay out of the southwest strip.
August
90/100 - Temperature
- 30 / 22°C (86 / 72°F)
- Rain days
- 3
- Crowds
- Peak
Our highest-scoring month for weather, and close behind July for crowds. Barely any rain, cooler evenings than you expect, and good, consistent west-coast surf. Rates are at their peak. Parts of Ubud and the north are less crowded than the main southern areas.
September Best value
88/100 - Temperature
- 31 / 23°C (88 / 73°F)
- Rain days
- 4
- Crowds
- Peak
The last of the dry season and the best month for value. September usually has similarly dry weather to August, the European and Australian holidays are over, and rates come down. If you can only travel in one month, make it this one.
October
71/100 - Temperature
- 31 / 24°C (88 / 75°F)
- Rain days
- 7
- Crowds
- Busy
The transition into the rainy season. Rain returns gradually, mostly as afternoon showers, and arrivals drop off. Still a good month to visit, and cheaper than September.
November
48/100 - Temperature
- 31 / 24°C (88 / 75°F)
- Rain days
- 11
- Crowds
- Moderate
The rainy season is back and humidity is up. One of the quietest and cheapest months of the year. Diving in the east and around Nusa Penida is still good, and the waterfalls are full again.
December Christmas peak
36/100 - Temperature
- 31 / 24°C (88 / 75°F)
- Rain days
- 15
- Crowds
- Busy
Wet weather at holiday prices. Arrivals and rates usually rise sharply in the second half of the month, and over Christmas and New Year the south is as busy as it gets in July.
