Day pass and monthly prices, opening hours, classes, saunas and ice baths at the most popular gyms in Bali, from Canggu and Uluwatu to Ubud and the Nusa islands.
Pick a gym close to where you are staying. Bali traffic is slow, so a gym across town can add an hour on the scooter to every session, and most of the busy areas have several gyms. Canggu has the widest mix, from large strength gyms to CrossFit boxes and clubs with pools and ice baths. Uluwatu gyms are more spread out, and several have open-air training floors. Ubud is better known for yoga, but there are proper weights floors on the roads just outside town. Outside the south and Ubud there are far fewer: Amed and Pemuteran have one gym each, and Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida have a handful between them.
Most of the gyms on this page sell a day pass, and many sell a week pass. The prices below come from each gym's own website, booking page or Instagram, in rupiah.

Bali has ordinary gyms that teach Muay Thai as one of their classes, and it has dedicated fight gyms. At the ordinary gyms the day pass often covers the class as well as the weights floor, though not always, so check. The fight gyms sell their own class passes, and a few, including Tiger Muay Thai in Ungasan and The Block in Pererenan, are full training camps with a ring, a cage and a team of coaches.
A session costs far less at a small club in Ubud than at the big camps in Uluwatu, and the list below shows the price at each gym. Several fight gyms price each discipline separately, so striking, MMA and conditioning each have their own day and month rate. At Lions MMA in Pererenan, a month of striking costs about twice as much as a month of conditioning. Bring your own gloves if you have them: The Block rents them, but not every gym keeps spares.
Most climbing gyms in Bali are bouldering only: short walls over thick mats, with no ropes and no partner needed. Rock Island in Pererenan is the one with rope routes, top-rope and lead on walls up to 12 meters. Clip 'n Climb in Sanur is set up for families and first-timers, with auto-belays that lower you to the ground, so nobody has to hold a rope.
Canggu has the most choice: Rock Island, Klimb on Jalan Raya Babakan and, a short ride west near Nyanyi beach, Toko Bloc. In Sanur, Clip 'n Climb and Bali Boulder share a building on the bypass road. Ubud has Monk in Peliatan, and in Uluwatu there is a bouldering wall at Bwellness in Pecatu.
Entry costs about the same as a gym day pass, and some gyms charge less if you hold a KITAS or an Indonesian ID card (KTP). Shoes usually rent for a small extra fee, and Monk includes them in the price. Take socks, because Rock Island and Toko Bloc ask you to wear them with rental shoes. For climbing on real rock, the crags are at Songan, by Lake Batur in Kintamani, and Bali Adventure Climbing, the company behind Monk and Klimb, runs guided trips there.
Batu Bolong, Berawa, Pererenan, Tibubeneng, Seseh, Munggu and Tumbak Bayuh
Canggu has more gyms than anywhere else on the island, and many of them are big. Obsidian, Surya and Body Craft Elements are in Pererenan at the western end, and two more are just beyond it: Omni in Munggu and Undefeated in Tumbak Bayuh. Batu Bolong has Avenue and TopGym close to the beach, and Berawa has Nirvana Life, a pool and recovery club with a gym attached. At several of them, including Body Factory, Undefeated and Elite Fit, the sauna and ice bath cost extra, so check what a pass covers.

Pemuteran is a long drive from the south, and most people come for the diving and snorkeling around Menjangan Island. The one gym here is Groove Fitness in Sumberkima, next to Pemuteran, and it is set up like one of the Canggu clubs: an open gym floor, group classes, and a recovery room with two ice baths and an infrared sauna. It sells day, week and month passes. Singaraja, the main town on the north coast, has several gyms, but they are aimed at locals.

Day pass, weekly pass or membership?
For a few sessions, buy day passes. For a week or two, look at the weekly pass: most gyms that sell one price it at three to five day passes. Monthly prices are harder to compare, because a month at a class-based gym includes coaching and a month at a plain weights gym doesn't. Check what each tier includes before you compare prices, and whether a price is marked "++", which means tax and service are added on top, about 15% more.
For drop-ins, check ClassPass before you pay at the desk. A ClassPass visit usually costs less than the gym's own day pass, new members often get a trial offer, and 34 of the gyms on this page are on it (see which).
At the typical prices above, a month costs as much as 7 day passes (Rp1.5m against Rp245k a visit).
Train more often than that in a month and the membership is cheaper.
A weekly pass (Rp795k) is cheaper than day passes once you train 4 or more times that week.
Can you use ClassPass in Bali?
Yes. ClassPass works in Bali, and most of its gym listings are in Canggu. A listing doesn't always cover everything the gym offers: some gyms offer only open gym time on ClassPass, others only certain classes, and some leave out the recovery area. It is also a cheap way to try a few gyms before you commit to one.
Bali is hot all year. On the south coast, afternoon highs are around 30 to 31°C (86 to 88°F) with high humidity, and Ubud is only a few degrees cooler. An open-air session at 3pm is much harder than the same one at 7am.
Many gyms open at 6 or 7am, and the early slot is the coolest. If you can only train in the afternoon, use the Air-con filter in the table. Drink more than you do at home, add electrolytes on long sessions, and expect afternoon downpours to soak an open-air floor in the wet season (roughly November to March). Traffic in Canggu is usually heaviest in the late afternoon, so allow extra time on the scooter.
How we chose these gyms
We searched Google Maps for gyms, fitness centers and CrossFit boxes across 40 areas of Bali, and for climbing and bouldering gyms across the island, and ranked every result by its number of reviews. From the most reviewed in each area, plus newer gyms that are already well rated but have had less time to collect reviews, we kept the gyms a visitor can use on a short stay. The first pass covered only the south and Ubud; the islands, the east coast and the north were added later and sit at the end of the order, since we added them by hand rather than by review count. Yoga-only studios, spas and hotel gyms are left out. No gym paid to be listed.
Prices, classes and facilities come from each gym's own website, booking page or Instagram, never from listing sites, and opening hours come from the same sources or, where a gym doesn't publish them, from its Google listing. Each card shows the month we checked them. Where a gym doesn't publish something, the card says so rather than guessing. Gyms change prices without notice, so check with the gym before you pay. For reviews, each card links to the gym on Google Maps.
The typical prices at the top of the page are the median across the gyms that publish each price, using the cheapest day pass and the cheapest monthly option each one publishes. Climbing gyms are left out of those numbers, because a climbing session is priced differently from gym entry. Almost every gym charges in rupiah; converted amounts use today's mid-market rate.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a gym cost in Bali?
At the 76 gyms on this page that publish a day pass price, a day pass typically costs IDR 244,500 (about $14) and a month IDR 1,500,000 (about $84). Day passes run from IDR 20,000 to IDR 725,000. The cheaper passes are usually gym-only; the pricier ones include classes or recovery.
Can tourists use gyms in Bali?
Yes. 83 of the 95 gyms on this page publish a day pass that visitors can buy. Some gyms charge less if you hold a KITAS (an Indonesian stay permit) or an Indonesian ID card (KTP).
Can I use ClassPass in Bali?
Yes. 34 of the gyms on this page have a ClassPass listing, among them Nirvana Life, Gymnasium Bali, Avenue Fitness and Wanderlust Fitness Village. A listing may cover only open gym time or only certain classes, so check the activities before you book.
Which Bali gyms have an ice bath and a sauna?
47 of the gyms on this page have both, including Obsidian Gym, Bambu Fitness, Body Factory and Nirvana Life. Use the "Must have" filters in the comparison table to see them all.
Where can I do CrossFit or Hyrox in Bali?
Wanderlust Fitness Village, Uluwatu Collective, CrossFit Canggu, S2S CrossFit, Ubud.Fitness (CrossFit Ubud) and CrossFit Seminyak are dedicated CrossFit boxes. Obsidian Gym, Bambu Fitness, Body Factory, Paradise Bali and 12 more run CrossFit or Hyrox classes next to a regular gym floor. Popular classes can fill up, so book ahead.

Are there 24-hour gyms in Bali?
Fitness Plus Sanur and Fit24 Sanur are open 24 hours. Most other gyms open at 6 or 7am and close between 8pm and 10pm.
Which area of Bali is best for gyms?
Canggu. It has by far the most gyms, from large strength gyms to CrossFit boxes and clubs with pools and ice baths. Uluwatu and Seminyak come next, with about as many as each other. Ubud and Sanur have far fewer, so check this list before you book a villa there.
Do I need to book a gym in Bali in advance?
Not for open gym time: you can walk in and buy a day pass at the desk. Classes are different. Popular CrossFit, Hyrox and reformer classes fill up, so book those through the gym's app or ClassPass a day or two ahead.
Is a gym missing, or is something out of date?
Tell us. Send us a message with the gym's name, where it is and its prices or opening hours, and we'll check it and add it. The same goes for new prices or a gym that has closed. If you have photos of the gym we can use, add a link to those too.
